About Us

De Smet Super Deluxe Inn was born out of the need to give our tourists a place to relax after a long day of outdoor activities (Laura Ingalls Wilder Pageant, Ingalls Homestead, and more). People from all over the world read the Laura Ingalls Wilder books and make their plans to visit Laura's Living Prairie. She made her books come alive in the minds of her readers. Look at how many people imagined themselves as Laura, Mary, Pa, Carrie, or one of the other characters in the books.  Even when I read the stories I can picture myself as a pioneer woman and think of the meals that I would prepare from the garden or the supplies left behind in the surveyors pantry.

Business travelers and sportsmen enjoy our hotel too.  We have received many nice comments from business men & women who have stayed at the Super Deluxe Inn. There is great hunting and fishing in South Dakota.  For our guests who are hunters & sportsmen, the hotel features a game cleaning and freezing area.  You should hear the BIG stories that fly around the cleaning station.

Whether you are here for family visits, tourist attractions, weddings, birthdays, hunting, fishing, or just a quick getaway; it’s our goal for you to have a comfortable, clean, and friendly place to stay while visiting the De Smet area.
